Mr. A. R. Khan from U.P. was diagnosed with multivessel coronary artery disease five years
back. At that time he was fearful to undergo coronary bypass surgery. So he was offered
EECP therapy with reversal diet. Later on he also underwent chelation therapy. Initially his
angina disappeared for 3 years but gradually chest pain on exertion reappeared .Despite all
these therapies his heart function also dropped from 50% to 30% . Repeat angiography
showed advancement of coronary artery disease will LAD & RCA becoming 100% occluded &
circumflex block increased to 99%. He underwent successful Triple vessel coronary bypass
surgery at Lilavati Hospital by Dr. Pavan Kumar recently. His post-op period was smooth
recovery uneventful.
Discussion – Non surgical reversal therapies for coronary artery disease cause collateral
formation in coronary arteries resulting in disappearance of angina but coronary blocks
increase & silent ischemia occurs which usually causes deterioration of heart function.
When collaterals become insufficient to provide blood supply, patient starts getting chest
pain / angina again.
Ultimately these patients require coronary bypass surgery which has proven time tested
record of relieving angina & protecting heart from further damage. This a regular
consultation of Coronary artery patients coming for bypass surgery after taking course of
reversal therapies. Bypass surgery has become standard successful treatment Triple Vessel
Coronary Disease since last 30 – 40 years.
