\nMr. M. Shaikh living in Bandrachawls suffered from unstable angina coronary artery disease , diabetes and hypertension , was admitted in suburban hospital, Chembur on 18\/07\/2016. His coronary angiography showed two of his three coronary arteries were 100% blocked. He underwent urgent in both blocked vessels on 21\/07\/2016 within 24 hours of angioplasty he again showed symptoms of chest pain and repeat coronary angiography showed that both stents were blocked completely with clots. This was treated by balloon dilatation in one vessel and clot aspiration new stent deployment in other vessel. Later on patient was discharge from the hospital. He was admitted in Lilavati Hospital in chest pain, fever for investigations. His blood investigation showed signs of infection \/ inflammation and repeat coronary angiography revealed again blocked stented artery and aneurysm with in stent narrowing of other vessel. After full antibiotic coverage, he was operated for coronary artery bypass surgery by me, this coronary artery bypass surgery was very different in nature as heart was surrounded by inflammatory fluid dense, fragile adhesions due to intense inflammatory response on stented coronary vessels. It was very difficult to locate and to do Bypass surgery on these vessels. According to cardiologist who treated patient medically \u2013 this kind of inflammatory stent occlusion is very rare and per medical literature , carries as high as 80% mortality if not properly treated. Possible source of this inflammation and infection could by from reused material during angiography and angioplasty where lower safeguards to save costs of procedure can result in such disasters of acute stent thrombosis with catastrophe. Luckily patient received prompt proper medical and heart surgery at saving his heart functions well in time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
